Fantasy Movies to Watch When You Need to Escape the World

People usually think they know what “fantasy movies” are. But this is not all bluff or fascinating. Sometimes it may be as simple as a dream, or even repeat the same day again and again. If you take the time to look, even the most ordinary things will become wonderful. Even the most unrealistic part of fantasy movies can connect you with real emotions.

Ruby Sparks (2012)

This 2012 romantic comedy tells the story of the neurotic and shy writer Calvin Wilfield (Paul Dano) who forces his girlfriend Ruby Sparks (Zoe Cazan) into reality and deals with the moral dilemma of falling in love with the person you control. This imaginable fantasy movie attracts you in all creative ways that Calvin tries to eliminate the problem of playing God. This movie makes you stare at the screen and realize that creating your dream partner is no different from creating a personal slave.

Jumanji (1995)

You may have seen the recent restart/sequel of this film, but the story of people being involved in the game is best in the form of the 1990s, starring Robin Williams and the young Kirsten Dunst. It is a interesting fantasy movie worth watching.

Avatar (2009)

The performance may not be the best, but there is nothing in this epic James Cameron film that is not worthy of epic fantasy. The story of a paraplegic Marine who took over his brother’s mission to the exotic Pandora world shows people what might happen if you had a big dream (at least in the exciting fantasy movie). You may have seen it before, but please take a moment to watch it again – because Cameron plans to make many sequels.

Ghostbusters (1984)

In addition to the still awesome all-star lineup including Bill Murray, Dan Ekroyd, Signy Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Harold Remis, the Ghost Catchers have withstood the test of time and become the benchmark of any film exploring supernatural phenomena. Proton bag is still one of the coolest weapons recorded in the film. For decades, the costume of the ghost-catching death squads has been a necessary item for Halloween (ask the children of strange stories).

A Wrinkle in Time (2018)

This novel fantasy movie is adapted from the novel of the same name by Madeleine Engel. It tells the story of a young girl embarking on an extraordinary journey to find her missing father. The star-studded cast includes Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Carring, Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)

Honestly – you may have seen the whole series many times now. However, this is the fourth film – featuring the Tri-Power Tournament and the young Robert Pattinson – leaving more room for the unique fantasy movie.

Groundhog Day (1993)

So there may be no bravado or anything we think is fantasy. But someone repeats the same day again and again? It seems dreamy to me.It is a classical fantasy movie to watch.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

You may have seen this film at some point. The story of a little boy making friends with an alien who is obsessed with Reese’s Pieces can touch the theme of real life, and also incorporate the classic sci-fi/fantasy metaphor. This good fantasy movie is very popular and is considered as one of the greatest films in history.

John Carter (2012)

This may not be the most successful Disney fantasy movie ever. But a civil war soldier (played by Friday night lights and Waco alumnus Tyler Koch) who made time travel and finally arrived at Mars seems to be a fantasy in itself.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)

This Disney fantasy movie tells the story of the Pevensie brothers trying to save the magical world of Narnia, capturing the perfect fantasy… in the closet. After finishing, don’t forget to listen to “Lazy Sunday” no less than three times.
